CAJE | JAMBULAY | STEEL DRUM ENSEMBLES

CAJE (pronounced "kah-jay") is an eloquent blend of international musicians whose music features a fusion of calypso, salsa, and reggae in a smooth, sensuous but fiery expression - call it Worldbeat Jazz.  This instrumental ensemble is centered in keeping the art in the music alive.  CAJE can be heard on the 9-track CD, CAJE: Live at Montpelier, featuring a mix of jazz standards like "St.Thomas" and "All Blues" along with original compositions by band leader and arranger David Boothman.  Steel pan, marimba, keyboards, sax, bass, drums and congas create Caribbean-spiced music, infused with a joyful spirit.

STEEL DRUM ENSEMBLES

Caribbean Arts Central offers the finest of steel-drum ensembles, from duo all the way to full 10-piece orchestra. The mini-ensembles feature steel drums and keyboards, and often bass and/or percussion. Trinidadian keyboard player and composer David Boothman weaves an authentic Caribbean mood, playing with the finest steel-drum musicians in the Mid-Atlantic area. The music is infectious, lively and mellow, creating that tropical “déjà vu”. The smaller steel-drum ensembles are perfect for deck parties, small receptions, rehearsal dinners and corporate events where a light Caribbean ambience is desired.
